Either way, the MotoGP calendar is packed with some of the most exciting and exotic destinations in the world.

MotoGP: a thrill like no other

As the pinnacle class of world championship road racing, MotoGP promises explosive action at breathtaking speeds – MotoGP riders average more than 100 miles per hour during races.

The 2016 season saw Honda’s Marc Marquez crowned MotoGP world champion for the third time, securing the title with three rounds to spare.

In a season that featured more than a thousand crashes, the Spaniard won five races – more than any other rider.

2015’s champion Jorge Lorenzo finished third, with his Yamaha teammate Valentino Rossi missing out on his tenth world title to take second place.

Planning a MotoGP trip for 2017

2017 will no doubt be just as exhilarating. Next year’s MotoGP calendar will take in 18 destinations spanning five continents between March and November.

Termas de Río Hondo – Gran Premio de la República Argentina, 9 April 2017

Termas de Río Hondo is a small spa city in Argentina’s Santiago del Estero Province.

The Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo underwent enlargement, reconditioning and modernisation in 2012, making it one of Latin America’s most vibrant, modern and safe circuits.

The updated circuit has hosted the Argentine GP since 2014, bringing motorcycle racing back to Argentina after 15 years.

The city’s natural hot springs make it a popular spa resort, and the perfect place to relax after the excitement of the Grand Prix.

Mugello – Gran Premio d’Italia, 4 June 2017

Set in a stunning tree-lined valley in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, Mugello is one of the world’s most scenic race circuits.

The track features a dramatic combination of off-camber corners, sweeping curves and long straights, making it an amazing race to experience.

The Italian fans are among the most enthusiastic in the world, and the atmosphere on race days is electric.

If you manage to tear yourself away from the excitement of the GP, there are plenty of quaint historical towns to explore dotted about the breathtaking countryside – and don’t forget to indulge in Tuscany’s rich culinary heritage!

Brno – Grand Prix České republiky, 6 August 2017

Brno is the Czech Republic’s second-largest city, and the capital of the state of Moravia. The city has played host to GP events since 1930.

The current road racing circuit opened in 1987. The track’s undulating corners, changes in elevation and forested hillsides make it a challenge for riders and a thrill for spectators.

Brno is a lively city with a vibrant cultural scene and a rich history. Check out the spectacular Cathedral of St Peter and Paul, the Dietrichstein Palace and the 13th-Century Spilberk Castle.

Phillip Island – Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, 22 October 2017

For a slightly more far-flung adventure, visit the Australian GP on the beautiful Phillip Island off the coast of Victoria.

The island has a long tradition of motor racing. The first motorcycle races happened in 1931, and a permanent track opened in 1956.

Magnificent ocean views provide the backdrop to one of the calendar’s fastest tracks, and the circuit’s twists and turns never fail to deliver spectacular racing.

Make time to simply stroll around the island enjoying its beautiful scenery, and see wild penguins in the world-famous Penguin Parade.

To make the most of your trip, you could combine it with a visit to buzzing Melbourne or Sydney.
